The first time he saw her was when they were still bagging the stiffs from the murder scene. She had been restrained of course, and when they finally managed to get her still, she was sedated. At the time, he wasn’t anyone of note—just the Head Translator of the facility, and was charged with reading every piece of text that they managed to haul up from where they’d dug her up. He didn’t know whether to be bored, impressed, or just in general apathetic, but when he saw her, he knew he had to choose quickly.
